Description
An unusual small map of Albania, printed in Greek, is inserted in a pocket-size sleeve with movable card, showing the distances between major cities in Albania. The back of the map is printed with information on Albania.
Since 1928, when Albanian republic was replaced by a monarchy, the Zog I, King of Albania, placed great emphasis on modernisation of the country and the construction of roads. Zogu kept British officers in the Gendarmerie despite strong Italian pressure to remove them. In 1939 Albania was occupied by Fascist Italy and then by Nazi Germany during World War II.
This map was made just before the occupation and the year 1938 is mentioned on the back of the map.
