Description
This rare Armenian almanac for year 1905 was published in Istanbul and includes valuable information on the Armenian minority in the Ottoman Empire, statistics, short literary texts, portraits and six maps showcasing Albania, Istanbul with its south-western area, Palestine with an in-set map of Cyprus, Iraq with Kuwait on the south-west and an in-set map of the north-western coast of Turkey and Anatolia.
The author Arshak Kahanay Kazazian was an Armenian medical doctor and intellectual. On 24 April 1915, he was deported with about 250 other Armenian intellectuals to Ankara in the event, that is today known as the beginning of the Armenian genocide, but was allegedly not among the murdered prisoners.
We could not find any institutional examples in Worldcat not in the western libraries.
