The uncommon book decorative book, printed in blue ink in Istanbul at the 400 anniversary of the Armenian printing, contains patterns for Armenian letter-shaped embroideries for Armenian names and nicknames.
The author Khatchig Tahtadjian (1847-1914) was born in London and was active in Constantinople as a professor artist, actor and calligrapher, who published books on Armenian lettering and calligraphy. He was killed in the systematic destruction of the Armenian people at the beginning of World War I. All of Tahtadjian’s works were published in small quantities and are rare today.
