An educational illustrated book on the prehistorical cultures was published in Baku in the early 1920s. The illustrations showcase drawings, weapons, sculptures and architecture.

David Şərifov (also David Mikhailovich, 1882 – 1946) was an ethnographer, archaeologist and geographer. Born in Tiflis, Şərifov studied in Novorossiysk and Kiev. He was a teacher of anthropology, history and Russian literature and was an instructor at the Social Education Department.
