Description

Rare bird’s eye view shows the city Bautzen in Saxony in 1620under the siege of John George I, Elector of Saxony. Text in the image and the key describing the protagonists.

The copper engraving was most probably published in one of the German newspapers from circa 1625. All the copper engravings from newspapers from that time are extremely rare and could be compared to broadsides.

More common version of this view, without portrait in the upper part, was published in ‘Östreichischer Lorberkrantz’ in 1627.

Professionell restauriert, restaurierte Kleine Risse im Rand und in der Darstellung, winziges Loch in der Mitte, ansonsten gut erhalten.
