8°: [4], 312 pp. printed text with interleaved 32 xylographies, 2 folding maps, contemporary full calf binding with gilt embossed decoration on covers and spine, gilt embossed title on a black label, pasted on the spine, marbled end papers, marbled fore-edge (Very Good, light foxing, old dedication on first blank page, binding slightly worn on the edges and with a light scratch on the back).
A second edition of collected traveller’s reports by a French author Ferdinand Tugnot de Lanoye (1810–1870), with numerous black and white plates, was bound in a contemporary full calf binding with embossed gilt decoration. The interleaved illustrations include views of the Nile, costumes, ruins and portraits of explorers.
According to the hand-written dedication, the book was given as an award to a best pupil in a French class in 1884.
