Description

An important rare book on the history of Manastir (today Bitola in North Macedonia) contains the historical notes on the vilayet, time charts and stories from the local history.

The author Mehmet Tevfik Bilge (d. 1865 – 1940) was a Turkish educator, born in Monastir (Bitola). He is today mostly known as a teacher of Mustafa Kemal (Atatürk), when this future Turkish leader was studying at the Monastir (Bitola) Military High School from 1896 until 1899.

Atatürk never forgot his teacher:
