Description
Small highly decorative star chart showing Cetus, is based on a chart by an English astronomer John Flamsteed (1646 – 1719). Flamsteed was an English astronomer and the first Astronomer Royal, who catalogued over 3000 stars. The cart was published in a French celestial Atlas Atlas Celeste de Flamsteed, issued in Paris in 1776. In this work Flamsteed’s maps were revised by a French maker of scientific instruments Jean Nicolas Fortin (1750–1831) and published in 1/3 of the original size. The book is also known as Atlas Fortin-Flamsteed.
