Description

A broadside with empty space for the date and place, was made as an invitation to a performance of Thusology or Biology, The Electrical Science of Life by A. S. Pearce and J. J. Hatch.

A contemporary book Book of human nature: illustrating the philosophy (new theory) of instinct, nutrition, life… by La Roy Sunderland, printed in 1853 in New York (p. 170), explains the terms used on the broadside:

It is curious to read some of the terms which various lec-

turers have brought, or attempted to bring into use, when

speaking of the science or fact of spiritual, or human influence.

One calls it “absorption,” another “psycodunamy,” another

“etherology,” another “neurology,” and yet, another dubs it

with the euphonious and classical term of “thusology,” or,

worse than all, “mental alchemy !”
