CHINA: [The People’s Revolutionary Committees Are Good].

A large Chinese propaganda poster map with a portrait of Mao, was made on synthetic fabric and promotes the revolutionary committees of 1969.

The map poster made from thick China silk polyester is a replica of a propaganda poster from 1969, made during the China’s Cultural Revolution. The upper part showcases Mao in front of a rising sun and the map of China in the lower part. The map was probably made in the 1980s during the Mao Revival in Pop Culture.

The printed poster, which was here used as a draft, was made in 1969 in order to promote Revolutionary committees, tripartite bodies established during China’s Cultural Revolution, set into motion by Mao Zedong, then Chairman of the Communist Party of China.

The committees were made to facilitate government by the three mass organisations in China- the people, the PLAand the Party.

Taiwan on the map is left blank, where a military leader Chiang Kai-shek initiated the Chinese Cultural Renaissance to counter what he regarded as destruction of traditional Chinese values by the Communists on the mainland.
