This historically important, richly illustrated Ottoman book, written by a prolific scholar Ahmet Hamdi Pasha (1887 – 1951) is probably the first modern Muslim report on the impact of the British Christian missions on the Islamic world. The author embraces the problem starting with the history of the missions and ending with the latest British establishments.

Ahmet Hamdi Pasha was one of the most important Ottoman / Turkish Muslim scholars of the early 20th century. He authored several books on religion, including for children, villagers and for the army. He server president of Religious Affairs from 1947.
A mosque in Ankara, named after him, is one of the largest mosques in the country.
The second edition of the book, written in modern Turkish, was published in 2006.
