Description

Portrait in schöner Renaissance-Kartouche zeigt Sidonia de Colaus (?-1573), zweite Ehefrau Johann Jakob Fuggers (1516-1575). Aus dem Buch, zum ersten Mal erschien 1593 unter dem Titel “Fuggerorum et Fuggerarum… imagines”, mit 59 von Dominicus Custos gestochenen Portraits. 1618 wurde von Lucas und Wolfgang Kilian, erweiterte Ausgabe mit 127 Portraits herausgegeben. Die dritte in Ulm herausgegebene Ausgabe mit 12 weiteren Kupfern folgte 1754.

Detailed Portrait in the Renaissance cartouche showing Sidonia de Colaus (?-1573), the second wife of Johann Jakob Fugger (1516-1575). The work was first published in 1593 under the name “Fuggerorum et Fuggerarum… Imagines” and it included 59 portraits by Dominicus Custos. The second enlarged edition with 127 portraits by Lucas and Wolfgang Kilian was printed in 1618 and the third edition, published in Ulm and with 12 additional portraits followed in 1754. The Fugger family was one of the most prominent family of banquers of the 16th century, based in Augsburg in Germany.
