This is a first edition of an Esperanto Anthology, starting with Ludwik Lejzer Zamenhof. The introduction was written by an Esperantist William Auld (1924 – 2006). An original linocut portrait of Zamenhof was made by a British-Swiss Italian author and Esperantist Reto Rossetti (1909-1994). The last part of the book includes biographies of the authors.

The first edition of Esperanta Antologio: Poemoj 1887-1957… came out in 1958. Edited by William Auld, it has, in its subsequent edition, remained a key work of reference for original poetry of the language.
