Bound in a contemporary binding with dark red debossed boards and brown calf with gilt decoration (old annotations in pencil, light foxing, minor tears and tiny pieces of paper missing in margins, sheets somehow loose, binding slightly rubbed).

Two titles bound in one volume, discussing the religion, written by prolific Ottoman author Ahmet Midhat. The first book discusses the Islam in the United States.

Ahmet Mithat (1844 –1912) was an Ottoman author, editor and writer, active mostly during the Tanzimat period. Mithat was a socialist writer, whose style was more conservative than the one of the contemporary modern writers. He was also known as a teacher of the first female novelist in Turkey and in the Islamic world, Fatma Aliye.

Ahmet Mithat published about 250 known texts with various motifs.
