Description
Scarce copper engraving with 13 miniature maps and prints shows the events of 1703: Map of St. Petersburg, founded in that year, Bonn, battles of Pultusk, Breisach, Landau and Eckern in Germany etc.
The engraving belongs to a series, representing famous European events from the years 1700-1722 in images, views and maps. The engravings, usually composed from ca 12 small images, were first issued by Christoph Weigel in Nuremberg every year as broadsides in small folio format. In 1739 his widow republished the series in a much smaller format with this title page. Both the broadsides and the smaller versions of them are very rare on the market.
