Description
Late 1920s photo shows a start at dog races with Whippets in an German Club for Sighthounds, probably near Berlin. The photo was a part of a collection of a Greyhound breeder who was recording sighthound shows and competitions in Germany in the late 1920s and early 1930s.
German Club for sighthounds started with a foundation of a Borzoi Club in Berlin in 1892 and soon expanded on all the sighthound breeds. From the beginning it was one of the best organized clubs in the world, controlling the breeding of the dogs as well as their physical development, a part of which were friendly racing and coursing competitions.
