Description

A fine example of the first edition of a translation of the Book of Job and Psalm 118 by a Slovenian author Simon Gregorčič (1844 – 1906), who is today considered one of the greatest country’s poets.

The translation, based on a Hebrew original, was made during a long period of time in the final Gregorčič’s years, a priest, who took a distance from the classic theological path and dedicated himself to liberal movement and Slavism. The author spent the last years of his life educating Slovenian youths in Gorizia in their native language.
