Copper engraving with original colour in outline, originally dissected in 15 segments and mounted on linen, accompanied with original green paper slipcase, with mounted title on both sides (Very Good, map slightly stained, slipcase with light staining and scuffed on the edges) 32,5 x 48,5 cm (12.8 x 19 inches).
An uncommon folding map of Switzerland was based on the survey of a Lieutenant Colonel Weiss, from the Royal Corps of Military Surveyors of France, and was published in Bern, Switzerland. It marks the borders as set in at the Congress of Vienna, as well as elevations and transportation routes. Two in-set maps mark the new postal routes between Switzerland and Piedmont and Lombardy in Italy, and between Switzerland and Germany.
The map is rare. We could only trace one example in the institutions worldwide (Museum für Kommunikation/Historisches Archiv und Bibliothek PTT, Köniz)
