Description

A magnificent bird’s eye view shows the final battle of Tripoli (Battle of Al-Hani) between Italy and Ottoman troops on October 26 1911 during the Italo-Turkish War.

The war was fought between the Ottoman Empire  and the Kingdom of Italy from September 29, 1911, to October 18, 1912. As a result, Italy captured the Ottoman Tripolitania Vilayet, and the city of Tripoli  These territories later formed formed what became known as Italian Libya.

The Battle of Al-Hani, outside of Tripoli, lasted between October 23 and October 26. More than 300 Italian soldiers were killed as the Turkish and Arabian troops retook the city. The Italians retaliated against the Arab population, killing 4,000 men, women and children over the next three days. 

This print was published separately as a newspaper in order to infor the public about the current events.
