Description
A detailed separately issued folding map with highly decorative colour in outline shows the Lower Franconia and Aschaffenburg, today north western parts of Bavaria, Germany. An image in the upper right corner shows Marienberg Fortress in Würzburg, built in the 16th century. The key marks state, county, country and estate borders, different types of public and commercial buildings and roads and types of different courts.
In 1814, Aschaffenburg was transferred to the Kingdom of Bavaria by an Austrian-Bavarian treaty.
This is a rare version of a map with marked borders of estates and an image of Marienberg. We could only trace one example in institutions worldwide (Bavarian State Library, OCLC 159837474) and no other examples on the market.
