Description
This is an attractive large format separately issued map of Zambia, published in Lusaka and based on mapping executed by the Surveyor-General of Zambia. The map shows cities, towns and villages of various sizes; all manner of roads, railways and aerodromes; natural wonders (ex. Victoria Falls); and many details of interest to those on Safari (Zambia is one of the best countries to encounter large animals); while elevation is shown by gradients of colours. This example of the map features roughly contemporary manuscript annotations evidently relating some sort of expedition. This is a relatively early locally-printed map of Zambia. Formerly Northern Rhodesia, Zambia became independent of the United Kingdom in 1964.
