Description

This is a first Slovenian translation of the Czech novel Reportáž psaná na oprátce, writen by a Czech journalist and author Julius Fučík (1903-1943). The novel was a first-hand report on the WWII Pankrác Prison in Prague which was run by the Nazis during WWII. Fučík gives a report on the prison and presents his personal view of the war, and discusses the realtionships and stories among the prisoners.

Fučík, an active member of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, who was imprisoned at the Pankrác Prison, wrote this novel on pieces of cigarette paper and had it smuggled out by sympathetic prison warders named Kolínský and Hora.

On 8 September 1943 Julius Fučík was hanged in Plötzensee Prison in Berlin.

The work was translated to many languages. This is the first Slovenian translation, made two years after WWII in the time of glorification of the Communist movement.
